No Red Light says FIFA
FIFA has proclaimed that there is no red light for stadium preparations, although they do have slight concerns.
You should interpret this as:
FIFA has proclaimed that while it is not imperative that they change venues for the 2010 World Cup just yet, SOUTH AFRICA UP YOUR GAME!!!!
This statement worries me.
No red light, for now, but slight concerns.
I sincerely hope our boys sort there problems out pretty soon.
Since December, I can’t remember any strikes or disruptions, but we are still trying to cut costs because the price of steel and inflation generally has soared.
Bare in mind that costs are being cut, so if you do come watch the WC here, don’t watch any games being played at the stadium depicted above.
However, it seems that I am alone.
South African confidence in 2010 has grown by 6% to 76% from the last reading.
However, 67% of people also believe that the public transport system will be ready. Now excuse me for being a little sceptical, but according our very own government, the GAUTRAIN will only be ready in 2011. I do of course realise that you can’t trust the government at all, but I’m not sure you can trust them to under promise and over deliver.
Then we have 55% of people believing we will meet the electricity demands by 2010. This one boggles my mind, because we have been having electricity cuts, in the middle of summer for the last couple of months. Don’t believe me? Check out the schedule for yourself.
Remember, 47% of all statistics are made up on the spot.
Our attention turns away from news for the time being, seeing as we have the little matter of the AFCON upon us.
Andreas has previews, in depth match analysis etc, so be sure to check those out.
Hopefully he learns to use the ‘more’ function in WordPress. Sorry Kosh, I couldn’t resist.
I am cautiously optimistic about our chances, but the truth is that we could finish bottom of our group as well.
Hopefully that won’t be the case.
COME ON BAFANA!
Oh.
And here is my public service message for the day:
Beware of fake lotteries for 2010 tickets. FIFA has warned of fake emails doing the rounds. If you want tickets, you’ll just have to bribe officials like the rest of us
