South African Sentiment

I read a good article in the Sunday Times this weekend. Unfortunately I can’t find it online, but the gist of it alluded to in another article on News24

Some people are saying that FIFA might bring in their own administrative team to take over from our clowns over here.

I’m all for whatever it takes to ensure that the WC stays here so whatever they feel is best works for me.

In good news, the power crisis seems like it’s over for now.

Not sure how or why, but the load shedding just stopped.

In our budget speech as well, the finance minister is giving Eskom 60 billion rand to get their act together, so let’s hope power cuts are a thing of the past.

I certainly believe that South africa is not ready for hosting a WC.
Besides the infrastructure and political problems we face, organised crime and violence has become the order of the day.
I would seriously like FIFA to reconsider the WC here.
For the safety of all foreigners and tourists that will visit our once beautiful country.
If you read the Herald , Daily Dispatch or news24 you will frequently read about foreigners/tourists being attacked and robbed, even murder for the unfortunate ones, let alone our own that are raped and killed everyday for a cellphone or a wallet.
What kind of message will we be sending out to the rest of the world if some innocent Soccer fans have to be flown back to their country in a lead coffin?
Go with the back-up plan while you still can.
We are not ready and I doubt we will be for a long time.
